Morocco’s Maryam Touzani to Present at 72nd Cannes Film Festival

72nd Cannes Festival Presents Moroccan Film Adam

Four African directors have been selected to showcase their films at the 72nd Cannes Film Festival from May 14-25 2019. Originally from Tangier, Morocco, Maryam Touzani will present her drama Adam. Touzani obtained her degree in London and then returned to Morocco to work as a journalist. She delved into the world of film to express herself. Her first cinematographic experience was When They Sleep (2011), followed by Under My Old Skin / Much Loved ( 2014); and Aya Goes to The Beach (2015).

In 2018 more than 120 countries were invited to attend The Cannes Film Festival.

In 2018, Meryem Benm’ Bark’s Sofia, a film about a young woman from Casablanca and her struggles giving birth out of wedlock was entered at Cannes.
