Ayaso, Saturday Farmers Market

Ayaso, Marrakech’s leading bio shop and natural cafe will launch its first farmers market on August 31, 2019, in Gueliz. Market hours are start at 9am and extend through the afternoon. Current plans to have the market continue on Saturdays each week.

Co-owner of Ayaso, Monika Markowicz, has a mission to “allow the Marrakchis to get closer to the producers of the Marrakech region and to become aware of the benefits of eating seasonally and fresh.” Locals with special diets and wellness goals can meet the farmers and purchase the best ingredients.

Ayaso prides itself on working with the best suppliers and products from around Morocco. The farmers take special care to grow their fruits and vegetables without chemical fertilizers and in topsoil conditions.

Permanent farms that will offer products at the market are: Domaine Aghbalou, Ourika Organic Kitchen, Domaine Bidani, The Gardens of Epasym, Domaine Bidani, and Bakkal Farm. Passenger exhibitors are the Olive Forest Farm, Marrakesh Organics, and CIPA (Crossroads of Initiatives and Agroecological Practices). Most of the farms are located on the road to Ourika, a popular destination for nature enthusiasts and trekkers.

Ayaso is located in the heart of the Gueliz Art Deco district on Boulevard Mohamed Zerktouni. It is dedicated to sourcing top natural food items, has a gluten-free section, and sells traditional and safer beauty and home products. The shop has an onsite cafe that makes fresh juices and vegetarian dishes. The second floor regularly hosts free seminars and workshops to enrich the community. Its philosophy follows Hippocrates motto, “you are what you eat.”
