On March 10th, southern Morocco’s coastal town Dakhla held Africa’s first professional Outdoor Adventure  Kiteboarding competition. The event was organized by the International Kiteboarding and Daklha Lagoon associations and hosted by Dakhla Attitude. Nineteen kiteboarders from Africa were admitted into the competition but it was four Morocccans who swept all the awards. Younes Ouahmid, Abdou Moutaouakil, Yassine Boucetta, and Laarbi Derkaoui took first, second, third, and fourth place. The winners qualifying scores have secured them spots in this October’s  Global Kitesport Association Freestyle World Cup, taking place in Dakhla. It will also grant them spots in the 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympics where a kitesurfing Olympic category has been created for the first time.
