Thirty-two-year-old Othmane Mouline, the hipster of Moroccan Chaabi music will perform at the Sofitel Hotel Casablanca on October 25, 2019. Mouline first came into the spotlight in 2016 when he published a video of himself singing and dancing to the festive Chaabi song ‘L’ayta.’  Today he boasts over 255,000 followers on Instagram.

Although Mouline’s professional background has roots in marketing, he graduated from the Institute of Higher Management Studies (HEM), his passion for singing Chaabi music has always been strong. ” While I was still a student, I loved Chaabi like all Moroccans, but I never thought of becoming a singer.”

Chaabi music is Morocco’s most popular folk and urban sound. It was originally started by street performers who tried to make a living in places like Marrakech’s UNESCO certified Jemma el Fna square. Chaabi artists can be heard throughout Morocco’s medinas, in cafes, or at restaurants.

The show will begin at 8:30 pm and be accompanied by a dinner in the grand hotel. Sofitel is known for being a key sponsor and organizer of cultural and art events in Morocco. On Saturday, October 12, 2019, the Sofitel Casablanca hosted the 2019 International Fashion show. American actress and pop star Christina Milian gave a concert at the event.

For the October 25th concert, regular tickets are 850 MAD ($86 USD) and VIP seats are 1000 MAD ($100 MAD). Tickets can be purchased directly from the Sofitel.
