Moroccan Station F For Startups

Startup companies and entrepreneurs will be excited to learn that Morocco’s Minister of Industry, Moulay Hafid Elalamy is interested in launching an entrepreneurial startup campus. The decision was inspired by the Station F Campus in Paris, the largest startup campus in the world. Elalamy plans to meet with the masterminds behind Station F to acquire ideas for building a similar community in Morocco.

There is already a dedicated tech zone in Ben Guerir, near Rabat,  dubbed “the Silicon Valley of Morocco,” however Elalamy’s goal is to create Morocco’s first startup campus.

The station F Paris campus has everything an entrepreneur needs under one roof: 3000+ desks, 26 international programs, 1 makerspace, 1 restaurant, 4 kitchens, 1 café, 1 bar, and 8 event spaces. Monthly and annual passes are also available so that entrepreneurs and startups have 24/7 desk access. In addition, the campus serves as a key resource for providing motivation, community, and member-only deals to help entrepreneurs accelerate their progress. Scholarships are also available.

The impact project aims to bring together entrepreneurs from all over the African continent. It also supports the auto-entrepreneur framework Morocco adopted in 2014. The law states that auto entrepreneurs making under 500,000 MAD for commercial, industrial and artisanal activities and less than 200,000 MAD for services provided are only subject to 1-2% tax.
