King Mohammed VI has invited Pope Francis to visit the Moroccan Kingdom. The Pope’s visit is scheduled from March 30 – 31st where he will meet with the King, then travel directly to Rabat for a meeting with representatives of the Hassan II Mosque. Before addressing the crowds in Rabat, a moment of silence at the Mausoluem of the late King Hassan II and his father Mohammed V will take place. Also, on the Pope’s itinerary is to meet with counselors and Imams at the Mohammed VI Institute for the Training of Imams and to show support for migrant charities from the Sub Saharan Africa. The Pope will also hold a prayer at the covered stadium in Rabat. The purpose of the visit is to support Morocco’s aim to open opportunities for inter-religious dialogue and strengthen the values of peace and tolerance that are pertinent to Moroccans.
