Nasser Bourit and Conor Burns, Rabat Meeting 2020

During the second week of January 2020, Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nasser Bourit, and British minister of State for International Trade, Conor Burns met in Rabat to discuss the upcoming UK-Africa Investment Summit in London. The event will take place in London on January 20, 2020, and be hosted by the British Prime Minister. The event aims to bring together businesses, governments, and international institutions and promote investment opportunities across Africa.

Over the past few years, British-Moroccan relations have continued to develop and strengthen. Burn’s visit to Morocco was the second in a period of six months and highlighted the two nations’ joint interest in cooperating in the areas of green technologies and renewable energies. The two nations have been actively engaged in collaborations which were reinforced at the signing of the October 2019 London Association Agreement.

The upcoming January 2020 event will be an opportunity to discuss new partnerships between the UK, Morocco, and other African nations. The global conference aims to mobilize new and substantial investment, create jobs, and boost mutual prosperity. An estimated 450 international investors from Pension Funds, Private Equity Funds, Investment Banks, Sovereign Wealth Funds, Venture Capitalists, and Angel Investors are anticipated to attend.
