An official letter was sent to the wali of the Souss Massa Draa region, requesting all Morocco’s local governors to contact local authorities and help inspectors with the emergency measures. Safety measures currently implemented include asking farmers to destroy all mint tea leaves that don’t comply with safety standards. Additionally, wholesale markets and supermarkets will need to ask mint tea leaf distributors to present laboratory results that prove the leaves are safe for consumption

The announcement is upset for Moroccans who drink mint tea up to a dozen times a day.
