The Yves Saint Laurent Museum, in collaboration with the French Institute of Marrakech will feature Romanian former child piano prodigy, Jeffery Macsim. The recital will take place on December 7th, 2019 at 8-9:30 pm. The now twenty-one-year-old Jefferey won the prestigious Grand Prix 13th International Piano Competition HRH in 2018. The event was organized by the Academy of the Kingdom of Morocco under the direction of Princess Lalla Meryem, and the Association “Musical Friendship,” and is considered a high-level musical event and part of the biennial cultural.
Jeffery’s pedigree includes training under the famous Romanian pianist and pedagogue Daniel Goi. He began playing piano at age six and went on to study at Romania’s Gheorghe Dima Academy of Music. He also gave concerts with the George Enescu Philharmonic Orchestra. In 2017, Jeffrey was granted a full scholarship to study at the Royal Academy of Music in London and began training with the esteemed Christopher Elton, the former Head of the Keyboard Department at the Royal London Academy.
Ticket prices are 100 MAD ($11 USD) and 50 MAD ($6 USD) to Yves Saint Laurent or French Institute members. The Yves Saint Laurent is dedicated to the works of Yves Saint Laurent and the collection of the Pierre Bergé. The Auditorium Pierre Bergé has 150 places. It was designed by Studio KO and Theater Projects with the concept of a polymorphic place. It can transform itself into a recital hall, a conference space or a projection room. Its sharp technological system combines allows for acoustically sensitive live performances, recitals, and performances. The Yves Saint Laurent is located near the Majorelle Gardens in Marrakech.
