From May 11-13th, the 11th National Festival of Sufi Culture will take place in Asilah a coastal town along the western border of Morocco; it is a special edition of the National Meeting of Art Madih and Samaa and Spiritual Poetry. The Asilah festival is famous for celebrating Morocco’s spiritual and mystical culture; it attracts intellectuals, the spiritually enlightened, religious singers, and culture & art lovers. The three day program will include art, spiritual poetry readings, seminars, writing workshops, calligraphy exhibitions, and a singing competition. There will also be a presentation discussing a 10 year projection of the festival. Other highlights will include guest of honors Hajj Mohammed Azzeddine and Mr. Ahmed Jbari, Assilah’s artistic symbol. The nomination of Oujda as the Capital of Arab Culture for 2018 will also be celebrated. The festival will conclude with an awards ceremony.
