According to French Insurance Broker Insurly’s Country Risk Index Report, Morocco is the safest country in the Maghreb region and the fourth safest in Africa. It has a position of 79 out of 180 countries. By comparison, Qatar is the safest country in the MENA region (19th globally) and Switzerland is the safest country in the world.
The report considered each country’s level of violence, the probability of natural disasters, pollution, the quality of health infrastructure, and transportation safety.
Among the four categories, Morocco excelled in health and pollution, receiving a total of 69 out of a possible 100 points. Although Morocco is marked as “severe” in the air pollution category and both AIDS and HIV are “significant” concerns, it remains one of the least threatening countries in Africa with regards to diseases such as malaria, yellow fever, and cholera.
The report calls for the Kingdom’s area of improvement in transportation safety. Due to the number of cars, bike, and pedestrian crossing accidents, the report calls specifies it is important for Morocco to find a solution.
