Marrakech’s Bank Al-Maghrib located in the medina plaza, on the edge of the Djemaa el Fna Square, will become a museum.
Recently used as a temporary exhibition space Bank Al-Maghrib has hosted both art shows and auctions. The site will now install a permanent exhibition and is projecting to host more cultural events that will share the history of the red city and the main square.
Djemaa el Fna Square is a historical plaza known for its daily spectacle involving snack charmers, storytellers, and traditional Moroccan activities. Founded in 1959, Bank Al-Maghrib is the central bank of Morocco. In 2008 it was reported to be worth US$36 billion.
