On October 31, 2020, the first edition Amazigh Xtreme Triathlon 2020 will take place in Ouarzazate, Morocco and travel through one of the kingdom’s breathtaking, Berber regions. Nicknamed the “Door of the Dessert” Ouarzazate and the great South is known for its scenic landscapes and ancient kasbahs. The race aims to provide a sense of adventure unlike any other. It will offer limited assistance to enable racers to feel a true sense of challenge and test their limits.
The point to point experience will start at the Barrage El Mansour Eddahbi where participants will swim 3800m across the lake, cycle 180km through Telouet – the trans-Sahara Caravan route and Tizi N Tichka – the highest mountain in Morocco (2.260m); and finish by looping around the Ksar Ait Ben Haddou. This UNESCO World Heritage site is a prime example of southern Moroccan architecture chosen as a popular film location for Hollywood movies. The full marathon will finish by looping around Ait Ben Haddou where scenes for The Mummy, Gladiator, Alexander, Prince of Persia, Kingdom of Heaven, and the Game of Thrones have been filmed.
