What is your personal favorite place to be?
Mandy Sinclair:
I love my Gueliz apartment, sitting on the balcony overlooking on the palm groves and villas especially when the call to prayer is sounding out over the city.

What is the secret equation for the perfect Morocco weekend?
Mandy Sinclair:
Relaxation and culture. I love an afternoon in Gueliz exploring art galleries when the madness of the medina becomes too much. A day trip to the Atlas Mountains is a must as well!

What is on your personal bucket list to do or see in 2016?
Mandy Sinclair:
The Gnaoua Festival in Essaouira. It’s one of the highlights for me each year.

What is your favorite lunch spot in Morocco?
Mandy Sinclair:
UMIA in Essaouira. The restaurant is the perfect blend for me to enjoy a relaxed lunch in a hip environment with delicious food. I cannot visit Essaouira without dining with a friend there.

What is your greatest achievement?
Mandy Sinclair:
The creation of Tasting Marrakech, my food tour, that takes place in Djemaa el Fna Square. I created Tasting Marrakech in 2014 and have had the pleasure of meeting amazing guests from around the world as we discover the secrets of Jemaa el Fna, entertainers and local cooks who make the place tick!

Fasting during Ramadan. I just cannot survive without coffee.

What is the name of your favorite Moroccan artist, writer or designer?
Mandy Sinclair:
I love the musician Hindi Zahra. I am also a fan of the woodworkers in Essaouira who carve their wares from thuya and olive wood. I cannot resist picking up wooden bowls from the tiny workshops and cooperatives while in Essaouira. They are perfect for serving.

I cannot resist a “Made in Morocco” leather handbag. My collection is vast! Doesn’t a woman have a right to a good handbag collection?

This summer I’m only drinking Essaouira whites.
