On January 22, 2020, French-Moroccan opera singer David Serero was honored with the Award for Diversity at UNESCO in Paris. At 38 years old, he has already given 2,000 performances and makes continuous efforts to share his Jewish Moroccan heritage with the world. In Morocco, he is revered both for his talent and his generosity. Serrero recently donated an important part of his Judaica collection to the new, Fez Jewish Museum. To date, this is the largest donation the museum has received. In his resident New York City,  David also celebrates his Moroccan heritage through his opera performances. Recently, he sang at the UNESCO World Health Day where he was an honored guest.

The 2020 UNESCO award ceremony took place one day after the 34th Edition of Oriental Fashion Awards, held at the Carrousel du Louvre Museum. The Carrousel du Louvre was the chosen venue by the Oriental Fashion Awards Moroccan Founder Hind Joudar. He founded the event sixteen years ago.

Serero sang on both days. At the Fashion Awards, he dedicated his performance of the Moroccan national anthem to the many Moroccan designers honored at the Paris Fashion event. Among them were designers Samira Haddouchi, Saad Ouadrassi, Fatima-Zahra El Filali Idrissi, and Houda Serbouti. For 2020, over twenty designers were featured.

During his acceptance speech, Serero gave a special thank you to Hind Joudar for his creative work and his dedication to supporting the blending of cultures. David’s award was presented to him by His Excellency Samir Addaher, Ambassador Delegate Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Morocco to the UNESCO. Several diplomats and notary public figures from the fashion and culture world were in attendance.
