The “Casbah Cove”, a Moroccan style riad mansion located in the heart of the Palm Desert’s gated Bighorn Golf community has been listed for 16.1 million USD. Managing the sale for the one-of-a-kind property is the Aaron Kirman Group. The modern Moroccan 16,800 square foot riad-style home boasts four bedrooms, eight baths, hallmark Moroccan architecture, domes, captivating courtyards, gardens, a hookah room with seating for twenty, and opulent décor complemented by wall-size Moorish windows that capture the hillside and mountain views.
The grand entry room is marked with Moroccan zellige tile-shaped skylights carved and lots of natural light. The room also has unique features like floating mosque shaped fireplaces, doorways with plated gold leaf, a marble floor with abstract geometric patterns and crown moldings that bear signature Moroccan design elements. These and other details like arabesque patterned Moroccan lamps, medina arch gateways, Berber carpets, and other Moroccan touches are woven into the fairytale. The mansion also has a Moroccan hammam spa, which is an essential part of the Moroccan beauty culture. For the bedrooms, master craftsmen were commissioned to create the built-in alabaster headboards and carve out other geometric patterns. Their expertise was implemented throughout the property and can be seen both indoors and outside by the 75-foot lap pool, around the 20-foot screen outdoor movie theatre, and in the secret garden planted with gardenias, roses, jasmine, olive trees
The design for the Casbah Cove was created up by a Chicago real estate investor. Dreaming of a beautiful winter escape, she called on the help of architect Gordan Stien to execute her concept. After mapping out the plan, she flew in a team of Moroccan artisans to implement fine details like zellige tile, stucco work, and arabesque patterns.
