Sayed El Feky, Morocco’s National Federation coach of the junior karate division is honored that his squad was awarded an unprecedented 10 medals at the World Karate Championships. The team flew from their Rabat home base to Santiago, Chile for the event.
Among the 23 Moroccan athletes who competed (13 men and 11 women), 3 gold medals were awarded to Yassine Sekouri in the U21, -71kg category, Mehdi Sriti (junior, -76kg), and Aya Ouhra (cadet, +54kg).
Silver medals were presented to Abdelali Jina (junior, -55kg) and Chaimae El Hayti (U21, -50kg). In bronze awards, Morocco’s U21 squad received three medals. These included teammates Fatima Zahra Chajai (-61kg), Anas Alami (-67kg), and Mohamed Bahri (-84kg). Two other bronze awards were presented to teammates from the U21 individual Kata competition. Saouesen Benchbab (cadet, -54kg) and Aya Nassiri were named.
Overall, the Moroccan junior team came in fourth place. The top positions were awarded to Egypt, Turkey, and France.
The Fédération Royale Marocaine de Karaté and Disciplines Associées (FRMK) and (DA) is organized by Morocco’s Ministry of Youth and Sports. The FRMK is the only organization authorized to organize examinations and validate Karate and Associated Discipline degrees. The FRMK & DA are members of the National Olympic Committee and the World Karate Federation.
