Two Wrongs, A Moroccan themed cocktail bar will open its doors in Portland, Oregon’s Pearl District on July 10th, 2019. Owner Ramzy Hattar is no stranger to the restaurant business. With the Bar Empire River Pig Salon and Taylors already under his belt, Two Wrongs is sure to delight with its drinks with a tropical twist and sensational menu.
Hattar has strategically positioned the launch of Two Wrongs following a successful series of Moroccan restaurants sprouting up in the Portland, many refer to as the city of roses. In the last decade, the city has become home Moroccan cuisine, served at Marrakech, Tangier, Taste of Casablanca, Dar Essalam, and Le Camel Boom. Two Wrongs takes the lead as the first Moroccan cocktail bar in Oregon.
Loungers at Two Rungs can anticipate indulging in cocktails such as Plantation pineapple rum and banana liqueur, Nilsson with Don Julio Blanco and coconut creme, slushies, pina colada’s, and Moroccan mint julep. The chic Moroccan setting will leave diners with the feeling that they have been transported to the Maghreb. Moroccan and Spanish tiles will grace the bar, lanterns with arabesque motifs will light the space, and each visitor will enter through horseshoe-shaped arches. The bar and cocktails will be managed by Davide Bricca, of Oven & Shaker and Quinn Matthewstear from Lightning Bar Collective.
Hattar reached out to Naira Ayvazyan, YouTube and Instagram food pundit, also known as Chef Monkey, to design its Moroccan inspired dishes. The food menu at Two Wrongs will have an Armenian-Moroccan flair, inspired by Ayvazyan’s Armenian heritage and her trips to Morocco. Cinnamon Sunset, a crepe stuffed with feta and goat cheese, roasted oranges, cinnamon, and walnuts was inspired by Morocco’s dish of fresh oranges with sprinkled with cinnamon. Savory crepes such as chicken with mushrooms and mozzarella will also be featured on the menu.
Two Wrongs owner, Hattar grew up in California and has a Jordanian and Greek Orthodox background. His talent in becoming multilingual with fluency in English, Greek, Arabic, Russian and German helped pave the way for his former career in Marines and Special Forces. After the twin towers fell in NYC he spent a decade working in Iraq, Dubai, and Germany. His passion for the restaurant business emerged after he returned to the United States. Hattar’s memories of growing up in the family restaurant’s kitchen’s San Francisco served as inspiration.
