Marrakech’s new art space BLOC 9 will host the abstract paintings of contemporary French artist Hugor Tampia. He is known for showing his collections in major cities around the world, however, it is his first show in Morocco and the North African region. His art draws on inspiration from both urban city life and nature. He is also moved by impressionist painters and has cited Van Gogh as a strong influence. The vernissage will take place on September 7th, 2019 from 7-10 pm. Admission is free and the event will be accompanied by music and a buffet. Beyond the event, free viewings are possible by advanced appointment, Monday to Friday.
The Bloc 9 Center is located a 10-minute drive from Marrakech’s french town Gueliz. It was opened in June 2019 and aims to transmit artistic values to children, adolescents, and adults through its workshops, gallery and cultural events. “Our ambition is to create an ecosystem of exchange between all the direct and indirect actors of the artistic place to promote Moroccan and African Art.”
